Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat ordered East Jakarta Mayor, Bambang Musyawardhana to be more alert in facing flooding throughout January-February. Moreover, East Jakarta area is most prone to flooding, such as in Jatinegara, Kampung Pulo, and Bidara Cina Sub-Districts.
"Mr. Bambang is a former Head of Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), that's why I entrust him. I want the disaster handling in East Jakarta must not fail," asserted Djarot when he visited the office of East Jakarta Mayor, Thursday (1/15).
Flood Anticipation, Residents Start to Evacuate Their GoodsHe also asked residents who live along river to immediately be recorded. The reason is, the project normalization will be accelerated this year and they will be relocated to the flats.
"This year, the normalization project will be accelerated, thus we have to record resident data as relocation plan," he explained.
Meanwhile, East Jakarta Mayor, Bambang Musyawardhana acknowledged his party is ready to face flooding this year. The preparations that would be done are by constructing posts in five flood-prone areas, preparing 50 rubber boats, medical personnel, evacuation teams, public kitchens, and other logistical materials.
"We're ready to face flooding this year. All has been prepared," he stated.
